Alonso Still Aims High

Ferrari team drivers Fernando Alonso insisted he could still lead his team to be world champion this year despite a disappointing show at the Grand Prix of Belgium. Alonso is currently lagging 41 points behind McLaren’s championship leader, Lewis Hamilton. The former Renault driver had finished in 21st place after Ferrari team mechanic to change tires the wrong strategy.
But with six races remaining, Alonso can still win optimistic. He has admitted it could do with mastering the podium at Monza GP, 12 September. “With this point system and changes in winners, I’m optimistic that we still have significant opportunities. There are still 150 points up for grabs. That is enough to change the situation, “said the Spaniard, Thursday (2 / 9).
Alonso is confident despite claiming to get rid of his three competitors first. They are the Red Bull duo Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettal and Hamilton. “No doubt the race in Monza will be very important. At our barn we will do everything to avoid losing points again, “he explained. Alonso said the victory at Monza would attenuate the difference in distance of the championship. But if the results are bad there are still opportunities for him to catch up. “It’s not over yet. But the team morale must be devastated if we failed, “he said.
